Parashar Lake, located in the beautiful Himachal Pradesh, India, is a serene and picturesque destination worth visiting. Parashar Lake is a perfect destination for a weekend getaway or a longer trip with its peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking views, and visiting an ancient temple at the site. According to local legends and Hindu mythology, the sage Parashar created the lake. It is said that Parashar meditated near the lake and created it as a source of water for himself and the local villagers. Another legend says that the lake was formed by a meteor strike and the temple near the lake was built in honour of the sage Parashar. Regardless of its origins, Parashar Lake is considered a sacred site by the locals and is revered for its beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

How to reach?

 From Delhi, you can take a road trip to Parashar Lake via Bilaspur, and Mandi. The total distance is approximately 500 km, and the journey takes approximately 12 hours by car.  The road trip takes you through scenic routes and offers breathtaking views of the mountains and forests.

You can also opt for a bus from Delhi to Mandi, and then hire a taxi to reach Parashar Lake which is about 50 km from Mandi. The road from Mandi is narrow and not a national highway which is also an alternate route to Bhuntar. Therefore, you can also visit Parashar Lake if you’re coming from Manali via Bhuntar.

There are several stay options available near Parashar Lake. You can opt for homestays in the nearby villages, camping near the lake, or hotels in Bhuntar. Depending on your budget and travel style, you can choose the best option for you.

The Parashar Lake Trek 

Alternatively, you can trek to Parashar Lake from Baggi Village which takes you through lush forests, meadows, and streams. The trek takes you to an altitude of 2730 meters, where you can enjoy the view of the serene Parashar Lake and the majestic peaks surrounding it.

Route for Parashar Lake Trek:

The nearest airport to Parashar Lake Trek is Bhuntar, which is around 50 km away. You can also reach Bhuntar via road from Delhi and other major cities. From Bhuntar, you can take a local bus or hire a taxi to Baggi Village, the starting point of the trek.
